Introduction
Mustard Seed Relief Mission is a charity that originated in Eastbourne in East Sussex, England. It is a christian charity and it supplies humanitarian aid to orphans, refugees and displaced persons. All the goods transported have been donated, or purchased with funds donated by individuals and organisations. When not engaged in aid work, members of the team solicit funds and support by giving talks, slide shows and video presentations, and by organising local fund raising events.
In addition to routine humanitarian aid, each Christmas since 1992 the charity has operated the Love in a box appeal, in which people throughout the country are invited to pack shoeboxes with Christmas gifts for children. These are then loaded and transported to areas of need. Over the past 15 years an average of 50,000 shoeboxes each year have been given to an under privileged child.
The work began in 1991 at the start of the Balkan War and aid has continued since that time to the refugees in Bosnia and Croatia. In addition to this each time since 1992, the charity has operated a Love in a Box appeal which I became involved with at the end of October 2008. Underprivileged children are given shoe boxes on Christmas Day and it is transported By the Charity to areas of need. Over 50,000 shoe boxes are scheduled to go out each year to schools, churches, refugees camps, orphanages and hospitals in Bosnia, Croatia, Romania, Ukraine and certain establishments in the UK.
